Super Falcons star Chiamaka Nnadozie has been nominated for the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award following an outstanding year for club and country, Bold Sports reports.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the nominees on Friday for the 2025 CAF Awards ceremony, which will take place in Marrakech, Morocco, for the third consecutive year.

Nnadozie, who currently plays for Brighton, is one of ten goalkeepers shortlisted for the prestigious award. She faces competition from Chloé N’Gazi, Sedilame Boseja, Fideline Ngoy, Habiba Emad, Cynthia Konlan, Fatoumata Karenta, Khadija Er-Rmichi, Acii Ndiaye, and Andile Dlamini.

A win this year would make it a historic third consecutive triumph for Nnadozie who also claimed the award in 2023 and 2024.

The 24-year-old Nigerian international is widely regarded as the favourite to clinch the award, thanks to her remarkable performances over the past year. She played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations triumph, where she was named Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament after keeping multiple clean sheets and leading from the back.

At club level, Nnadozie has continued her fine form in England’s Barclays Women’s Super League, earning the Player of the Match award on her debut against Aston Villa while also being nominated for the PFA WSL player of the month award for September.

Her brilliance has also earned her international recognition beyond Africa as she recently made history by becoming the first African goalkeeper nominated for the inaugural Women’s Yashin Trophy, presented at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, a testament to her growing reputation as one of the best goalkeepers in world football.

With her consistent excellence for both club and country, Chiamaka Nnadozie stands out as the frontrunner for the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award, an honour that would further cement her status as Africa’s top shot-stopper.
