Nigeria’s U17 boys, the Golden Eaglets, have departed the country for Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, where they will compete for the 2025 WAFU-B U17 Boys Tournament.
The five-time world champions rounded off their preparations on Monday with a goalless draw against Mop Stars FC. It was the last of 13 friendly matches played in camp, where the team recorded 10 victories, two draws, and just one defeat. Over the stretch, they scored 25 goals and conceded only five, underscoring a solid build-up to the regional championship.
The Eaglets, led by coach Manu Garba, will begin their Group B campaign against the Baby Cheetahs of Benin Republic on Wednesday, 24th September, before squaring up to Burkina Faso. Group A of the competition features hosts Côte d’Ivoire, Niger Republic, Ghana, and Togo.

Matches will take place at the Stade du Lycée Scientifique in Yamoussoukro, a natural turf facility constructed for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Coach Garba named a 20-man squad for the tournament, featuring a blend of domestic talent drawn from grassroots and academy sides across the country. The Golden Eaglets are targeting qualification for the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, which the WAFU-B tournament serves as a pathway for.
