Super Eagles winger Moses Simon says securing victory is the most important objective for Nigeria as they prepare for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
The Super Eagles will host Rwanda on Saturday, September 6, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo before travelling to Bloemfontein to face South Africa on Tuesday, September 9.
Speaking exclusively to Bold Sports, Simon reaffirmed his commitment to the team and stressed the need for maximum points from both fixtures.

“I’m always prepared to fight for the team, to work for the team,” Simon said. “Of course, we just need to win. That’s the most important thing for us. First of all, we face Rwanda, then we go to South Africa.”
Nigeria currently sit fourth in their qualifying group with seven points, trailing leaders South Africa (13 points) as well as Rwanda and Benin (eight points each). With only the group winner guaranteed a direct ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Simon acknowledged the tough task ahead but remains confident.
“Of course we all know it will not be easy,” he added. “It’s football, it’s the game of soccer, you can win, you can lose, small teams can beat you. So we need to work hard and prepare for it.”

Away from international duty, Simon also reflected on his summer switch from Nantes to Paris FC after spending six years with the Ligue 1 club. The winger admitted it was a difficult decision but believes the move was necessary for his growth.
“Of course it was difficult to leave,” Simon said. “But it’s football, sometimes you need to change, you need to see other opportunities. I was really happy with the move.”
Simon has already made an impressive impact at Paris FC, recording two goals and one assist this season. The Super Eagles will be banking on his current form and experience to inspire them against Rwanda and South Africa as they fight to revive their World Cup hopes.
