The Super Eagles camp in Uyo is beginning to take shape ahead of Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa, with nine more players joining the early arrivals on Tuesday, Bold Sports reports.
Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Alex Iwobi, Benjamin Frederick, Moses Simon, Adebayo Adeleye, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Chidozie Awaziem have all checked into the team’s camp, increasing the number of players available to head coach Eric Chelle as preparations intensify for Saturday’s showdown at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
They join the first set of arrivals led by captain William Troost-Ekong, defender Bruno Onyemaechi, and goalkeeper Amas Obasogie, who touched down earlier on Monday. Werder Bremen fullback Felix Agu had also been in camp along with some of the coaching staff.

More players, including Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, and others who completed deadline day deals such as Tolu Arokodare, Chrisantus Uche and Samuel Chukwueze are expected to report before the team’s first full training session.
The Super Eagles currently sit fourth in Group D after a disappointing run of one win, four draws, and one defeat, while South Africa lead the standings with 13 points. Rwanda and Benin follow closely in second and third with eight points apiece.
Nigeria thus need victory in both of their games as they face Rwanda on Saturday, September 6 in Uyo before traveling to play South Africa on September 9. Kick-off for Saturday’s match is scheduled for 5 pm Nigerian time.
The Amavubi of Rwanda are expected to arrive in Lagos on Tuesday afternoon before they travel to Uyo to settle into their camp and begin preparations ahead of the highly-anticipated clash.
