Nigeria’s D’Tigress will face a familiar foe, Cameroon, in the quarterfinal of the ongoing FIBA Women’s Afrobasket 2025 on Thursday at the Palais des Sports de Treichville, Abidjan. The game comes up by 10 pm, Bold Sports reports.
Cameroon booked their place in the last eight after a commanding 85-64 win over Angola in Wednesday night’s qualification game.
While Nigeria earned an extra day of rest after topping their group, the clash promises to be a tricky encounter for the defending champions.

The Central African nation were the last team to defeat Nigeria at the Afrobasket, edging them 71-70 in the 2015 semifinal in Yaoundé. Since that loss, Nigeria have gone on an unbeaten run, claiming four straight Afrobasket titles and asserting their dominance on the continent.
Now, Nigeria are aiming to make history by becoming the first-ever team (male or female) to win five consecutive Afrobasket championships.
To advance, Nigeria will need to contain Cameroon’s dynamic backcourt duo of Jessica Thomas and Joelly Emmanuelle Claude Belleka, who are averaging 16 and 15 points per game, respectively and have been key to their team’s offensive flow.

Elsewhere in the quarterfinals, unbeaten Uganda will take on tournament dark horses South Sudan in the opening game of the day. Mali will battle Mozambique in the second matchup, followed by the host nation, Ivory Coast, taking on one of the tournament favorites, Senegal, in what promises to be a charged atmosphere.
