Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen touched down in Istanbul on Wednesday night to a rousing welcome from Galatasaray supporters, ahead of his high-profile return to the Turkish giants, Bold Sports reports.

The 26-year-old, who is set to complete a €75 million move from Napoli, was greeted by thousands of fans at the airport, some of whom had been tracking his flight throughout the evening.

Osimhen’s arrival in Istanbul follows confirmation from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano that the striker is scheduled for a medical on Wednesday as the final step before sealing the deal from Napoli.

Galatasaray will pay Napoli €40 million upfront, with an additional €35 million due next year, making it the most expensive signing in Turkish football history.

The agreement also includes a 10% sell-on clause and a restriction that prevents Osimhen from joining any Serie A side for the next two years.

His return to Istanbul has generated massive buzz among Galatasaray fans, who fondly remember his sensational loan spell at the club.

Osimhen scored 37 goals and registered seven assists last season, leading the club to a domestic double and sweeping individual accolades including the Golden Boot, Player of the Season, and Goal of the Season.

The Nigerian striker’s impact was also felt in the Turkish Cup final where he scored twice in a memorable win over Trabzonspor. His prolific form also propelled Galatasaray to a third consecutive Super Lig title.

With the medical scheduled and documents signed, Osimhen is now on the verge of officially rejoining a club where he has become a fan favorite. His arrival has reignited hopes for another title-winning campaign as Galatasaray prepare for both domestic and European challenges ahead.
