President Bola Tinubu has praised the Super Falcons for completing ‘Mission X’ in spectacular fashion, after Nigeria pulled off a dramatic 3–2 comeback win against hosts Morocco to claim their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title, Bold Sports reports.

In Saturday night’s final at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, Nigeria overturned a 2–0 first-half deficit to defeat the Atlas Lionesses in one of the most thrilling WAFCON finals in recent history.

Captain Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaa Mssoudy had given Morocco a commanding lead, but the Super Falcons roared back with second-half goals from Esther Okoronkwo (penalty), Folashade Ijamilusi, and Jennifer Echegini to seal the win and extend Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football.

Following the historic victory, President Tinubu joined the team via video call to congratulate them.

“You have lifted our spirits. You are a pride to your generation,” he told the jubilant players.

“You have achieved the mission the nation dreamed of and prayed for. Nigeria celebrates you.”

He described the team’s resilience and second-half fightback as a reflection of the “determination that defines the Nigerian spirit.”
