Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar is expected to leave Real Sociedad at the end of the season, with sources indicating growing interest from Qatar, where they are reportedly prepared to offer up to €30 million to sign him.
Since arriving at Real Sociedad in 2022, Sadiq Umar has found it difficult to replicate the impressive form he displayed at Almeria, where he netted 43 goals in 84 matches. Limited playing time this season prompted a much-needed loan move to Valencia, where he has managed to rediscover his form.
The 28-year-old joined Valencia CF on loan with a €9.5 million purchase option and has since been instrumental, scoring five goals in nine La Liga starts and playing a crucial role in helping the team avoid relegation.

Sadiq Umar’s impressive form at Valencia CF has created a new dynamic, with the Mestalla club now seriously weighing the option of activating his purchase clause before June, recognising it as a potentially valuable market opportunity.
However, the interest from Qatar — where the Arab country are reportedly ready to offer up to €30 million for Sadiq Umar — places Valencia in a strategic position as they could activate the buyout clause and, if they choose not to retain him, resell him for a substantial profit within just a few weeks.
In that case, Real Sociedad would not only lose Sadiq Umar but also forfeit the chance to earn €30 million from his sale. Meanwhile, Valencia find themselves in a favorable position, having to choose between securing the Nigerian striker for the long term or using the potential profits from a Middle East transfer to reinforce other areas of the squad.
In the meantime, Sadiq Umar and Valencia will be aiming to finish their season on a high note, as they trail Rayo Vallecano by just two points with four matches left in the race for the Conference League qualification spot. Securing European football would mark a remarkable turnaround for the team, especially considering they were fighting to avoid relegation just few months back.
