West Ham ready to pay over £51m for Victor Boniface English Premier League side West Ham United are prepared to break their transfer record to sign in-form Nigerian striker Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen before the close of the January transfer window.
The London side would have to battle fellow EPL sides Chelsea, and Newcastle United who are also interested in the Nigerian who has taken the Bundesliga by storm since joining in the summer from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.

Boniface has found the back of the net 10 times while providing seven assists in 16 Bundesliga games this campaign. His performance has been key to Leverkusen’s form this season as they remain the only unbeaten team in Europe’s top 5 leagues.
West Ham’s current transfer record stands at £51 million. The sum was paid for the services of Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paqueta who joined the Hammers in the summer of 2022.
The Hammers technical director Tim Steidten is confident they can get the job done before the end of the January transfer window – according to The Sun.
There might still be a twist to the transfer as Boniface is currently out injured and recovering from an adductor surgery and could be out until April.
