Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface will be aiming for his first UEFA Champions League goal when Bayer Leverkusen takes on AC Milan later today at the BayArena in Germany.
The Nigeria international made his Champions League debut two weeks ago in Leverkusen’s 4-0 victory over Feyenoord. Despite an impressive performance, he didn’t join the elite group of players such as Karim Benzema, Wayne Rooney, Erling Haaland, and Marco Van Basten, who scored on their Champions League debut.

Boniface will be eager to make a statement on the big stage as his team faces AC Milan tonight. Over the past two years, he has established himself as one of Europe’s most prolific strikers, particularly shining in the Europa League, where he has scored 11 goals in 17 appearances.
The 23-year-old, who has already netted four goals in seven matches across all competitions this season, will be looking to add a Champions League goal to his tally.
AC Milan forward Rafael Leao, in a pre-match interview, praised the Nigerian striker and acknowledged his threat, saying they’ll be keeping a close eye on him.
“I know him (Boniface), he’s a teammate of Samuel Chukwueze. We were talking about him this week. Of course, he’s a striker who is very dangerous, technical, and fast, so we need to be on the lookout for him,” Leao told Omasports in the pre-match interview.
Boniface, who was thrilled after making his Champions League debut, shared an emotional story about how he once paid N30 to watch matches at a viewing center in Akure, Nigeria and is now playing under the lights in Europe.
