Nigeria’s Super Falcons will open camp in Casablanca on Monday, July 13, as they continue preparations to defend their Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) crown, with the tournament set to kick off later this month in Morocco.

The 25 players invited by head coach Justin Madugu are expected to arrive in camp in stages from Monday, ahead of the continental showpiece, scheduled to run from July 26 to August 16.

Once camping in Casablanca concludes, the ten-time African champions will travel to Rabat, where they will be based for the duration of the group stage.

Nigeria will open their title defence against Malawi at the Al Madina Stadium on July 28. The Super Falcons return to the same venue four days later for their second Group B outing against Zambia on August 1, before closing out the group phase against Egypt at the Olympic Stadium on August 5.

The Falcons head into the tournament with one target firmly in mind: retaining the trophy they won on the same soil last year, when they edged hosts Morocco 3-2 in a pulsating final to lift a record-extending 10th WAFCON title.

Beyond continental glory, this year’s edition carries added significance as a qualifying pathway to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The four semi-finalists at WAFCON 2026 will punch their tickets directly to the global tournament, while two further teams will progress to the intercontinental play-offs for a shot at qualification.

For Madugu’s side, camping in Casablanca marks the first step of a campaign that carries both the weight of history and the promise of a World Cup berth.
