Nigeria’s Super Falcons have retained 36th position in the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking released on Thursday, despite their recent success at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The African champions have now held onto the 36th spot for the sixth consecutive time, after initially dropping two places from 34th in March 2024.

Despite the lack of movement globally, Nigeria continue to lead the African standings, reaffirming their long-standing dominance as the continent’s top-ranked women’s national team.

During the latest ranking window, the Super Falcons recorded a 3-1 victory over Ghana and held Portugal to a draw in a pair of international friendly fixtures.

Following those friendlies, Randy Waldrum’s side went on to clinch a historic 10th WAFCON title in Morocco, registering two wins and a draw in the group stage before overcoming Zambia, South Africa, and the hosts in the knockout rounds.

Elsewhere in Africa, South Africa remain the continent’s second-best team at 54th globally, while Morocco, third in Africa, have slipped one place to 64th. Zambia and Cameroon complete the top five, sitting at 65th and 66th respectively.

Globally, Spain have overtaken the United States to become the new number one ranked team. Sweden and England have moved up to third and fourth, while Germany drop two places to fifth.

The next FIFA Women’s World Ranking is scheduled to be released on December 11, 2025.
