New England Revolution midfielder, Alhassan Yusuf has joined the Super Eagles camp in the early hours of Wednesday, linking up with his teammates ahead of the crucial World Cup qualifier against Rwanda on March 21.
Before Alhassan Yusuf’s arrival, nine players arrived on Tuesday morning including Captain William Troost-Ekong, Wilfred Ndidi, Calvin Bassey, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, Joseph Aribo, Igoh Ogbu, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Ola Aina while Sadiq Umar had arrived on Tuesday evening, joining the growing squad in Kigali.
Earlier, on Monday evening, six players had joined the camp, including Simon Moses, Victor Boniface, Raphael Onyedika, Jordan Torunarigha, Stanley Nwabali, and Samuel Chukwueze following the early arrival of six players on Sunday evening, including Victor Osimhen and Tolu Arokodare.
With Yusuf’s arrival, the team’s 23-man squad is now complete, and they’re set to participate in their second training session. The team’s new head coach, Eric Chelle, led his first training session yesterday evening and will be looking forward to the second session today with a full squad.
The Super Eagles are currently struggling in their group, sitting in fifth place with only three points. They trail leaders Rwanda, South Africa, and Benin Republic by four points, as such, victory against Rwanda is crucial to keep their World Cup hopes alive.
Following their match against Rwanda, the Super Eagles will return to Nigeria to face Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on March 25. Meanwhile, Rwanda will host Lesotho on the same day.
