Chippa United and Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has admitted that his dream is to play for one of South Africa’s biggest clubs, with Kaizer Chiefs topping his list.
The Nigerian international had been strongly linked to Johannesburg-based clubs Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates since his impressive performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where he helped Nigeria reach the final.

Nwabali, who joined Chippa in 2022, has quickly become a key player for the club and has even been awarded the captain’s armband due to his excellent leadership skills.
Despite a failed transfer attempt earlier this year and the subsequent signing of Rwandan goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, Nwabali remains determined to play for the Chiefs if the opportunity avails itself in the future.
“To be honest, Kaizer Chiefs is one of the clubs I really want to play for. This is the club I want to play for in South Africa. Kaizer Chiefs are one of the teams I want to play for, with all my heart,” the former Go Round FC goalkeeper told Metro FM.
“I won’t say I’ve been supporting them, but this is the club I felt like I want to play for. Even before the new coach came in, I wanted to join Chiefs.”
Nwabali acknowledges that a move to Chiefs at this time might disrupt the club’s momentum, especially with Ntwari performing well. “To be quite honest, the Rwanda guy (Fiacre Ntwari) is doing well with the club, I wouldn’t take that away from him,” he added.
If Nwabali were to join the Chiefs, he would become the second Nigerian goalkeeper to make the move from Chippa to Kaizer Chiefs after Daniel Akpeyi in 2019.
