Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi has suffered another hamstring setback and is expected to be sidelined for at least a month, according to Hull Daily Mail.
The Nigerian international only joined Hull City this summer after leaving West Bromwich Albion and impressed on his debut last weekend, producing a commanding display against Coventry which saw the Tigers record a clean sheet in their opening league fixture.
Ajayi, however, felt discomfort in his hamstring after that match in the Midlands. Although he was initially rested for Hull’s Carabao Cup defeat to Wrexham as a precaution, scans have since confirmed more serious damage, ruling him out for four to six weeks.

The setback comes as a major frustration for the 31-year-old, who endured a difficult campaign last season with West Brom, restricted to just 15 appearances after suffering two separate hamstring injuries.
It also represents a significant blow for Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle, with Ajayi now almost certain to miss September’s crucial World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
The Super Eagles currently sit fourth in Group C on seven points and need maximum points in both fixtures if they are to strengthen their chances of avoiding back-to-back failures in reaching the World Cup.
Meanwhile, Hull boss Sergej Jakirovic will now be forced to reshuffle his defence, with Ajayi’s absence leaving a notable gap in a backline he has already quickly established himself in since arriving for pre-season.
