Napoli head coach, Francesco Calzona, has provided reassurance amidst concerns over Victor Osimhen’s injury, affirming that the striker’s limp-off just minutes before the end of the game is not a cause for serious alarm.
Osimhen notched his 10th goal of the season for Napoli, but they could not secure a victory, settling for a 1-1 draw following Cagliari’s Zito Luvumbo’s late equalizer.
The Nigerian striker broke the deadlock for Partenopei in the 65th minute, nodding in Giacomo Raspadori’s cross from close range, marking his eighth Serie A goal this season and 10th across all competitions in 20 appearances.
The Nigerian striker has maintained his scoring form, finding the net in consecutive matches since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, where he guided Nigeria to a second-place finish.

Despite his impactful performance, Napoli has struggled, failing to secure a win in their last four outings across all competitions. Osimhen’s game was cut short as he limped off six minutes from time, raising concerns about his availability for upcoming matches against Sassuolo and Juventus.
Napoli manager Francesco Calzona downplayed Osimhen’s injury, attributing it to fatigue rather than a serious concern. He expressed confidence in Osimhen’s ability to lead the team, stating, “Osimhen was tired, I don’t think it’s anything serious. He is ready to take Napoli on his shoulders,” Calzona said after the game per pazzidifanta.com.
“Little by little he will regain his condition, he had problems with the Africa Cup of Nations, and the players returned devastated from that competition. The other evening I replaced him for the same reason, but the players always want to play.”
