Former Turkey international Nihat Kahveci has heaped praise on Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, boldly claiming the Nigerian is far superior to Liverpool’s Alexander Isak.

Nihat further asserted that Osimhen would already be playing for Real Madrid or Barcelona if he possessed Mauro Icardi’s clinical finishing touch.

The Nigerian once again lit up the pitch with a Man of the Match display, scoring twice and playing a pivotal role in Galatasaray’s third goal during their 3–1 win over FK Bodo/Glimt in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League matchday three encounter.

The Nigerian forward was a major transfer target over the summer, attracting interest from Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Juventus, and Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal. Despite the attention, he opted to return to Galatasaray, who paid a club-record €75 million to bring him back.

Throughout the summer, comparisons were drawn between Osimhen and Swedish striker Alexander Isak, whom Liverpool signed from Newcastle United for a staggering €140 million plus add-ons. However, Isak has struggled to make an impact, failing to score in three Champions League matches and four Premier League outings this season.

Nihat was forthright in his assessment, insisting that the Galatasaray striker’s value and quality far exceed Isak’s.

“What is Isak, bro? He’s a good player but not worth that money,” said the former Besiktas, Real Sociedad, and Villarreal forward.

“Osimhen for €75 million, Isak for €140 million – who would you take? Clubs would pay €150–200 million for Osimhen. If he had Icardi’s finishing, Barcelona or Real Madrid would sign him with their eyes closed.”

Since returning to Galatasaray, the 26-year-old has scored five goals in eight appearances across all competitions, reaffirming his status as one of Europe’s most explosive forwards.
