Experienced Super Falcons midfielder Ngozi Okobi says she is thrilled to be back with the team and grateful for her recent call-up after spending some time away from the squad.
The Ottawa Rapids star recently returned to football following a break due to pregnancy and childbirth. Her absence saw her miss major tournaments, including the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Olympic Games, and the historic 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Okobi received a surprise invitation from head coach Justin Madugu for the Falcons’ double-header preparatory fixtures against Cameroon women’s national football team, scheduled for February 28 and March 3 in Yaoundé ahead of the 2026 WAFCON qualifiers.

Reacting to her recall, the 32-year-old expressed both excitement and pride at the opportunity to once again represent Nigeria.
“It feels great to be back with the team. I am grateful and honoured to be representing the nation again,” she told the Super Falcons media team.
Over the years, Okobi has established herself as one of the Super Falcons’ most talented midfielders, representing Nigeria at several major international competitions. She has also enjoyed a professional career spanning Europe and the United States before making her move to Canada.
