All hell broke loose at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano after fans of Kano Pillars invaded the pitch, attacking match officials and players of visiting Shooting Stars of Ibadan following a stoppage-time equaliser that saw the game end 1-1 in a Nigeria Premier Football League clash, Bold Sports reports.

Pillars had taken the lead in the eighth minute through Mustapha Jibrin and looked set to claim all three points after dominating large spells of the encounter. However, their hopes were dashed in the 94th minute when Adams Mustapha struck a dramatic equaliser for the Oluyole Warriors, silencing the home crowd.

The tension reportedly began to build earlier in the game, as Pillars fans grew increasingly angry with the match officials after what they claimed were two clear penalties denied to their side.

At full time, chaos erupted. Furious fans stormed the pitch, chasing match officials and opposing players. In a bid to restore order, police officers fired tear gas while players and officials were still on the pitch, causing further panic and confusion as both teams and match personnel scrambled for safety.

Disturbing videos circulating on social media showed fans pelting objects at fleeing players and officials, while others invaded the pitch in violent pursuit.

As of the time of filing this report, several Shooting Stars players were seen receiving medical attention in the dressing room, with medical staff applying ice packs to swollen heads and faces and pouring water on affected players.

The draw sees Pillars drop to 17th on the table while Shooting Stars move to fifth on the table, gradually turning their poor start to the season around.
