Favour Ashe wins NCAA 100m silver medal with sixth career sub-10s

Favour Ashe of Auburn University clocked 9.99s to finish second in the men’s 100m final at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday (Saturday in Nigeria).

It was the fourth time this season Ashe has run a sub-10-second time, and his sixth overall, the most by any Nigerian sprinter.

Louie Hinchliffe of the University of Houston won the race in 9.95s.

Ashe’s Auburn teammate Kanyinsola Ajayi finished third with a personal best of 10.01s, narrowly missing an automatic Olympic qualification.

Another Nigerian Godson Brume of LSU took fourth place in 10.02s.

Ajayi was earlier part of the Auburn team that won the gold medal in the 4x100m relay, running a school record time of 38.03s. Brume was also part of the silver-winning LSU side in 38.21s.
