Enyimba head coach Stanley Eguma has made his ambitions for the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season clear — win the league or, at the very least, secure a continental ticket.
The veteran tactician, who took over midway through last season when the team was languishing in 11th place, managed to guide the nine-time champions to a sixth-place finish. But he says that’s not good enough for a club of Enyimba’s stature.
“Enyimba as a team have a target, and as a coach — an ambitious one at that — I equally have a target,” Eguma told reporters. “And my target should be to win the league or pick a continental ticket, at worst.”
Eguma knows what it takes to win the NPFL, having lifted the title twice with Rivers United, where he also won the Federation Cup in 2001. He was also part of Enyimba’s technical crew as an assistant to Okey Emordi when the club retained the CAF Champions League in 2004.

“Having achieved that in the past, I think I should be looking at something that will surpass my achievement. And that is what the Club is looking at achieving as well,” he said.
“Remember, we’re nine-time champions of the NPFL and two-time African champions. I think anything short of that would not be a good achievement. So, the Club are also looking at surpassing their previous performance.”
Eguma, who is known for building disciplined and competitive sides, insists that the expectations from the club align with his personal goals.
“Before the management will set a target for me, I’ve already set one for myself, because I’m very ambitious, and I feel I have a lot to offer,” he added.
Enyimba will begin their 2025/26 NPFL campaign against newly-promoted Barau FC from Kano.
