Nigeria’s national men’s basketball team, DTigers, is facing the looming possibility of missing the first window of the FIBA AfroBasket Qualifiers 2025, set to commence from February 23 to February 25 in Monastir, Tunisia.
With less than 48 hours remaining before their opening match against Libya at 8 am on Friday, February 23rd, the Nigeria Basketball Federation has yet to finalize or disclose the roster for the qualifiers. Additionally, there has been a lack of communication regarding their travel arrangements from the NBBF Communications Team.

D’Tigers will face Libya, Uganda, and Cape Verde in this window. Twelve teams, comprising Groups B, D, and E, will partake in a round-robin format, each contesting three games over three days.
This scenario isn’t unfamiliar, as the basketball federation and the sports ministry have previously encountered challenges in assembling players for competitions, particularly basketball.
However, with mere hours remaining until the commencement of the competition, the absence of a released roster casts uncertainty among fans, potentially leading to the country’s exclusion from the event.
Given the limited time to invite players from the NBA and European leagues, should the team miraculously manage to participate, they will likely field a predominantly home-based squad.
