Glasgow Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers has reportedly ended talks with an MLS club despite Rangers nearing an agreement on a lucrative deal, according to reports.
The Nigeria international has been leading the attack for Philippe Clement’s side this season, filling in for the injured Brazilian striker Danilo.
While Rangers have added Moroccan forward Hamza Igamane to their roster, he’s been struggling with fitness issues. Dessers, despite facing criticism from some fans, has continued to perform well, scoring 22 goals last season and already netting three this term, including a crucial equalizer against Dynamo Kyiv.

However, Dessers was involved in a controversial incident during the return leg against Kyiv, allegedly reacting to jeers from the home crowd during the Champions League defeat at Hampden.
There has been ongoing speculation about Dessers’ future since January, with Greek side PAOK and Italian club Cagliari previously showing interest.
Recently, MLS team Atlanta United, looking to replace former Celtic star Giorgos Giakoumakis, reportedly made a $6 million (£4.6 million) bid for Dessers. This offer would have recouped Rangers’ initial £4.5 million investment.
According to Italian journalist Luca Bendoni, while Rangers and Atlanta United were close to an agreement, Dessers himself has declined the move looking to compete favourably for a starting spot with the Gers.
