Napoli manager Antonio Conte has publicly acknowledged that star striker Victor Osimhen is likely to leave the club this summer.
The revelation comes amid widespread speculation about the Nigerian international’s future.
According to Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, Conte shed light on Osimhen’s situation, saying, “I’m aware of his situation, I know there’s an agreement with the club so it’s a different case compared to others.”
The Italian tactician further elaborated on the unique circumstances surrounding Osimhen’s potential departure. “There’s a pact between Victor and Napoli on his future and I accepted that,” Conte added, indicating that the club and player had previously reached an understanding regarding a possible transfer.
This confirmation from Conte aligns with reports that Osimhen is expected to leave Napoli during the upcoming transfer window. The 25-year-old striker has been a pivotal figure for the Italian side, playing a crucial role in their Scudetto triumph in the 2022/23 season, emerging as the league’s top scorer and attracting interest from several top European clubs.
Bold Sports had earlier in the week reported that Napoli was planning to slash their valuation of the Nigeria striker to £85m from his release clause which was £113m.
Osimhen has been linked with Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal in the English Premier League and has also attracted interests from Paris Saint-Germain who see him as an ideal replacement for Kylian Mbappe who departed at the end of the season on a free transfer to Real Madrid. Saudi Arabia clubs also have the Nigerian on their radar and are willing to release cash for his transfer.
