Nasarawa United defender Victor Collins and New England Revolution midfielder Alhassan Yusuf were the first players to arrive at the Super Eagles camp in Abidjan ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
Collins, the only domestic player invited for the final round of qualifiers, is making his debut appearance in the Eagles squad.
Yusuf, whose season with New England Revolution ended on October 19 following their defeat to Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, is expected to be match-fit for the upcoming games.
Super Eagles interim coach Austin Eguavoen and his backroom staff arrived in Abidjan on Sunday. The rest of the squad are expected by Monday, with training sessions set to begin on Tuesday.
Nigeria currently lead Group D with 10 points from four games, four points ahead of second-placed Benin Republic. A draw against Benin in Abidjan would secure Nigeria’s place in the 2025 AFCON, set to hold in Morocco.
Following the Benin match, the team will travel to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to prepare for their final qualifier against Rwanda on Monday, November 18, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
