Samuel Chukwueze is poised to battle Noah Okafor and Christian Pulisic for a coveted starting position in AC Milan’s upcoming Serie A match against newly promoted Venezia at the San Siro.
Manager Paulo Fonseca is seeking to revitalize the Rossoneri after a disappointing start to the season. According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, at least five changes are expected to the starting lineup, potentially impacting Chukwueze’s chances.
The Italian publication suggests that newly signed Tammy Abraham will likely lead the attack, leaving Okafor, who started against Roma, on the bench or in direct competition with Chukwueze and Pulisic.
Chukwueze has started twice from his preferred right-wing position in the three games played this season, while Pulisic has been deployed there once. Okafor, on the other hand, has started in attack in his lone appearance.
With Fonseca set to revamp the attacking front, Abraham is expected to start centrally, while Raphael Leao maintains his position on the left. This leaves Pulisic, Chukwueze, and Okafor vying for the starting spot on the right.
While Chukwueze and Pulisic are more natural right wingers, both players returned late from international duty, opening up the competition. Okafor is currently favored to start against Venezia.
Despite an impressive preseason, Chukwueze has yet to contribute a goal or assist for Milan this season. He will be eager to help the team regain their footing after his strong performances for Nigeria in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
