Calvin Bassey got sent off in his first start for Fulham in their hard-fought 2-2 against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday in a Premier League London derby.
The Super Eagles defender was one of the standout players for the Cottagers and was instrumental in keeping the Gunners’ star players such as Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard away from Bernd Leno’s goal in the first half.
Bassey was shown his first yellow card in the 50th minute for time wasting and was eventually turned off after receiving a second yellow card for obstructing Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah who would have been free on goal but for the intentional obstruction.
Andreas Pereira and João Palhinha were on target for Fulham while Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah scored the goals for Arsenal.

The red card means Bassey will be unavailable for Fulham when they take on Tottenham Hotspur in the second round of the English Football League but should return to face champions Manchester City on September 2.
