Nigerian Grammy award winnerS Burna Boy (Damini Ogulu), Tems (Temilade Openiyi) and Rema (Divine Ikubor) will headline the NBA All-Star Game 2023 halftime show with an Afrobeats-themed performance.
The 2023 NBA All-Star game is billed to be held on Sunday night in the US, Sunday morning in Nigeria in Salt Lake City, Utah.
While the Nigerian trio perform at halftime, American rap superstar, Post Malone will kick things off with a medley of hits at the show’s start. Jewel will perform the National Anthem, while Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel will lead the player introductions for the newly named NBA All-Stars. The league will also honour LA Lakers forward LeBron James for breaking the scoring record two weeks ago.
The NBA in a statement wrote, “GRAMMY® Award-winning singer, songwriter and record producer @burnaboy, 2023 GRAMMY Award-winning singer and Oscar-nominated singer and producer @temsbaby and rapper and singer @heisrema will headline the NBA All-Star Game 2023 halftime show with an Afrobeats-themed performance.”
This is the first time an African All-Star music cast will be performing at the NBA All-Star weekend which will have in attendance the best sports and entertainment celebrities in the United States and beyond.
Last year, the NBA recruited DJ Khaled to perform at the halftime show, and he brought out Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Migos, Lil Baby and Gunna.
