Brighton and Hove Albion Women have officially welcomed Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie to the squad following her return from a victorious Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign, Bold Sports reports.
The Nigerian shot-stopper joined the Women’s Super League side after running down her contract with Paris FC. However, her first training session with Brighton was delayed as she was with the Super Falcons for the continental showpiece.
Nnadozie proved instrumental in Nigeria’s record-extending 10th WAFCON triumph, keeping four clean sheets and earning the Best Goalkeeper award. She was also named in the Team of the Tournament.

Shortly after her continental success, the 24-year-old was shortlisted for the prestigious Yachine Trophy, awarded to the world’s best women’s goalkeeper. She joins a list that includes Germany’s Ann-Katrin Berger, Spain’s Cata Coll, England’s Hannah Hampton, and the Netherlands’ Daphne van Domselaar.
Upon her arrival at Brighton, Nnadozie was met with Nigerian flags, applause, and a standing ovation from her new teammates and staff as she entered the dressing room.
Head coach Dario Vidosic praised Nnadozie’s achievements and shared his excitement over her arrival ahead of the 2024–25 WSL season.
“Firstly it’s important to say welcome and secondly, congratulations on a fantastic achievement to become champions of Africa, hopefully with us we can also win some silverware,” Vidosic said.
“Also, congratulations on the nomination for the goalkeeper of the year, hopefully that’s another award that will come your way. Everyone’s excited for you to be here. We’ve introduced two other girls today so now we’ve got three new ones to join us.”
“I’m sure everyone is really excited, we wish you all the best and we look forward to you putting on the Brighton gear.”
