Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface announced himself in style on his Werder Bremen debut, providing an assist in a commanding 4-0 Bundesliga victory over Borussia Monchengladbach on Sunday, Bold Sports reports.
The 24-year-old, who began the match on the bench, was introduced in the 75th minute for Romano Schmid and he wasted little time making an impact, setting up Justin Njinmah for Bremen’s fourth goal which sealed the visitors’ first league win of the 2025-26 season.
Belgian youngster Samuel Mbangula was the early hero for Bremen. The 21-year-old winger opened the scoring in the 15th minute with his first goal for the club before turning provider for Jens Stage, who doubled the lead before halftime.
Despite ceding more of the ball in the second half, Bremen were ruthless in attack. Schmid extended the advantage from the penalty spot to make it 3-0, before Boniface’s inch-perfect pass allowed Njinmah to round off the scoring.

At the other end, Werder Bremen’s defensive resilience stood out. Super Eagles fullback Felix Agu delivered a tireless performance, registering the most tackles (4), and duels won (8) while completing five recoveries, six clearances and two interceptions in the match.
The result lifted Bremen to ninth in the Bundesliga table with four points from their opening fixtures, while Monchengladbach slumped to 16th with just one point — leaving coach Gerardo Seoane under early pressure after a difficult start to the campaign.
