‎‎Bendel Insurance wrapped up the first half of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League season in emphatic fashion with a convincing 2–0 victory over Kwara United on Saturday, December 27, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.

‎The encounter, which marked the final fixture of the first round of the campaign, saw the Benin Arsenal assert their home dominance against a Kwara United side that struggled to cope with Insurance’s intensity and organisation.

‎The hosts took a deserved lead in the 19th minute through Akpan Emmanuel, who rose highest inside the penalty area to power home a fine header. The goal came from a well-delivered cross by Adamu Yazid, whose precision from the flank unsettled the Kwara United defence and handed Bendel Insurance early control of the contest.

Buoyed by the opener, Bendel Insurance continued to press, dictating the tempo and limiting their visitors to half-chances. Their persistence paid off again three minutes before halftime when Kayode Oke-Solomon doubled the advantage in the 42nd minute.

The forward calmly finished after being set up by Chinedu Nwosu, registering his fourth goal of the season and giving the home fans more reason to celebrate.

‎Kwara United attempted a response in the second half, showing more urgency in attack, but Bendel Insurance’s backline remained compact and disciplined, shutting down any meaningful threat. The hosts, meanwhile, managed the game intelligently, seeing out the contest without conceding.

The 2–0 win not only secured all three points for Bendel Insurance but also ensured they ended the first half of the NPFL season on a high note. It further underlined their impressive home form and boosted confidence heading into the second round of the campaign.

‎For Kwara United, it was a disappointing end to the first stanza of the season, as they were left to reflect on missed opportunities and a lack of cutting edge in the final third.
