Basketball: Amy Okonkwo drops 15 points as Beşiktaş crush Botaş 83-65

D’Tigress forward Amy Okonkwo came off the bench to score 15 points and inspire Beşiktaş Women to an 83-65 victory over Botaş in the 2025/26 Turkish Women’s Basketball League on Saturday.

Beşiktaş, determined to end Fenerbahçe’s dominance in the competition, started brightly by edging the first quarter 16-13. However, Botaş responded strongly in the second, outscoring their hosts 22-14 to take a 35-30 lead into halftime.

The second half belonged entirely to Beşiktaş, who turned on the style and never looked back. They outscored Botaş 25-13 in the third quarter and 28-17 in the fourth, sealing an emphatic 18-point win.

Okonkwo was impressive off the bench, adding seven rebounds and one assist to her 15 points. She was perfect from two-point range, went 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, and converted 2-of-3 free throws.

Greek forward Mariella Fasoula claimed MVP honors with a dominant double-double of 29 points, 13 rebounds, and three assists. Nikolina Milić also posted a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Pelin Bilgiç contributed 10 points in the win.

For Botaş, Sara Bejedi led the way with 19 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Ayşegül Günay added 16 points and three rebounds, Tuba Poyraz chipped in 13 points and five boards, while Jazmine Davis finished with 10 points and six rebounds. Lorena Şerfa also impressed with 12 rebounds and seven points.

Beşiktaş now turn its attention to the Women’s EuroCup, where they face Polish side Gorzów on October 9.
