South Africa’s Bafana Bafana will host Nigeria’s Super Eagles in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, Bold Sports reports.
The Matchday 8 showdown is scheduled to kick off at 4pm GMT — that’s 5pm in Nigeria and 6pm in South Africa — according to Gordon Savic, FIFA’s Head of Qualifiers and International Matches.
The stadium, formerly known as Vodacom Park and later Free State Stadium, is a 46,000-capacity venue in South Africa’s judicial capital. Opened in 1995, it has hosted several high-profile matches, including games during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
With only one team qualifying from Africa’s Group C, this encounter could go a long way in deciding who picks the ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals. The Super Eagles were held 1-1 in Uyo when both sides met in June, and the return fixture promises to be just as tense — if not more.
The match comes just three days after Nigeria hosts Rwanda’s Amavubi in another key qualifier on Saturday, September 6, making it a make-or-break international window for the Super Eagles.
South Africa top Group C of Africa’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers with 13 points, six ahead of Nigeria in fourth.
