Bafana Bafana ready for Super Eagles, says goalkeeper Williams

The Bafana Bafana are putting finishing touches to their preparation for Wednesday’s semi-final clash against Nigeria in the ongoing African Cup of Nations, goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has said.

Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams was the hero for South Africa in their quarterfinal win over Cape Verde, saving four penalties during the shootout to help send his side to their first semi-final place in 24 years where they’ll face three-time champions, Nigeria.

Nigeria beat Angola by a goal to nil to book a semi-final place. They would be hoping to reach their first final in over a decade by seeing off the South Africans, hopefully, in regulation time.

The win for South Africa over Cape Verde has given them a boost going into the game against Nigeria and Williams has revealed that the preparation for Nigeria would be on another level, different from how they prepared for other countries.

“We know (playing against Nigeria) is going to be a bigger one (compared to Cape Verde), so we need to prepare accordingly and we are looking forward to the challenge,” Williams told the press.

The Super Eagles and Bafana Bafana both boast of the best defense in the competition. Nigeria has kept four clean sheets and conceded once while Williams has also kept four clean sheets in the competition, conceding twice.

The game comes up on Wednesday at the Stade de la Paix, Bouake.
