Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi has confirmed that the club is ready to welcome Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman back into the fold whenever he is fully committed.
Lookman’s relationship with the club has been strained following the collapse of his highly publicised move to Inter Milan. The transfer broke down after Atalanta refused to lower their €50 million valuation of the Nigerian forward.
In the aftermath, Lookman reportedly went AWOL for two weeks, with reports suggesting he explored talks with several other clubs in a bid to secure a move before the summer transfer window closed. Ultimately, no deal materialised.

Although the 27-year-old has since returned to training, he is yet to feature in Serie A this season. Atalanta have started the campaign with one win and two draws from their opening three matches, sitting seventh in the league table. Lookman has also faced criticism over his attitude in training.
Despite being registered for the UEFA Champions League, his name was left out of Atalanta’s squad for their trip to Paris Saint-Germain, further fuelling speculation about his future.
When asked about the situation, Percassi expressed optimism, emphasizing that Lookman’s return depends on his commitment.

“You cannot go back and change the past so we will focus on the present and future. We all know how good Ademola is, but also that to play for Atalanta, one must be 100 percent focused. When he feels ready to do that, we are waiting for him with open arms,” Percassi said.
Lookman, however, did feature for Nigeria during the recent international break, playing his first competitive matches of the season against Rwanda and South Africa in the World Cup qualifiers.
