Nigeria’s Amy Okonkwo has been handed another opportunity in the WNBA after the Dallas Wings announced her signing to a training camp contract ahead of the 2026 season.

The D’Tigress forward was signed alongside Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu, Costanza Verona and Shyanne Sellers as the franchise begins preparations for the new campaign.

Okonkwo returns to Dallas following a promising stint last season, during which she initially joined the team on back-to-back seven-day hardship contracts before earning a deal through to the end of the season. The 29-year-old made a strong impression, averaging 11.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 0.8 assists per game.

Her return puts her in contention for a roster spot as the Wings look to rebuild after a disappointing 2025 campaign. The team finished bottom of the Western Conference, with injuries to key players, including star guard Arike Ogunbowale, disrupting their season.

Dallas have since retained Ogunbowale and will be aiming for a more competitive outing in 2026. The Wings are scheduled to face the Indiana Fever and the Las Vegas Aces in preseason games on May 1 and May 4, before opening their regular season against Indiana on May 9.

For Okonkwo, the training camp contract represents another chance to secure a long-term role in the league after showing encouraging form in her debut stint with the franchise.
