Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi delivered a standout performance as Fulham secured a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Deployed on the right wing, Iwobi was instrumental in Fulham’s attacking play, roaming freely across the midfield to receive and distribute the ball.
The breakthrough came in the 45th minute when Emile Smith Rowe finished off a well-timed pass from Raul Jimenez. While a subsequent goal from the former Arsenal player was disallowed for offside in the 52nd minute, Iwobi continued to impress both offensive and defensively.
In the 83rd minute, Iwobi produced a moment of brilliance, threading a sublime through ball for Harry Wilson to score Fulham’s second goal, putting the game beyond the hosts who were without key players such as Eberechi Eze, Eddie Nketiah, Adam Wharton amongst others.
Iwobi’s outstanding performance earned him a standing ovation as he was substituted for Adama Traore in the 89th minute. With this victory, Fulham extended their unbeaten run to three games and climbed to 18 points and sixth in the Premier League table.
Iwobi’s impact has been significant, already equaling his assist tally from last season in fewer games. He now boasts 2 goals and 2 assists in just 11 Premier League starts.
Fulham’s impressive form continues, with their recent six-game unbeaten streak in London derbies marking their best run since 2006/2007.
