Turkish giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe are set to go head-to-head for the signature of Nigeria international Ademola Lookman in the upcoming January transfer window.
Lookman’s relationship with Atalanta is reportedly at an all-time low, following the club’s refusal to approve a move to Inter Milan despite the 20-time Serie A champions tabling a stunning €45 million offer. Atalanta held out for €50 million, a stance that left the Super Eagles forward frustrated.
The tension escalated when Lookman briefly boycotted training and left the club’s facility before later being reintegrated into the squad. Matters worsened during Atalanta’s UEFA Champions League clash against Olympique Marseille on November 5, when he was involved in a heated altercation with former manager Ivan Juric.
The 28-year-old is said to be unhappy in Bergamo and keen to leave, but it remains unclear whether La Dea will sanction a move this January. His current contract runs until June 2027, giving Atalanta full control over his immediate future.

Reports from Italy and Turkey indicate that both Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe are intensifying their pursuit of the Nigerian winger.
Galatasaray are keen on pairing him with Super Eagles teammate Victor Osimhen, while Fenerbahçe have tracked Lookman for months, even submitting a bid shortly after the close of the Italian transfer window, an offer Atalanta promptly rejected.
With Lookman expected to be away later in December and January for the Africa Cup of Nations, Atalanta may be open to considering fresh proposals from the Turkish sides. However, any final decision on his future is not expected for several weeks.
