Super Eagles-eligible defender Tayo Adaramola has completed his permanent move to Belgian club Cercle Brugge from Crystal Palace.

The 22-year-old left-back has signed a contract until 2030. The transfer ends his 11-year association with Crystal Palace. Adaramola is eligible to represent Nigeria and the Republic of Ireland.

Adaramola featured for Sheffield Wednesday last season. He made 16 appearances during his loan spell. He also registered one assist.

The defender gained valuable first-team experience in England. His recent campaign helped attract interest from European clubs. Cercle Brugge eventually secured his signature.

Adaramola has also experienced Belgian football before. He spent part of the 2023-24 season at RWD Molenbeek. He made 14 appearances during that loan spell.

His move to Cercle Brugge now gives him another opportunity. He can continue his development in the Belgian Pro League.

Adaramola was born in Dublin to Nigerian parents. His eligibility for the Super Eagles makes the transfer notable for Nigerian football fans.

He has represented the Republic of Ireland at youth level. He also earned a senior international cap in 2026.

Despite that international involvement, Adaramola remains eligible for Nigeria. His move to Belgium could therefore attract further attention from Nigerian football followers.

The left-back began his football journey in Dublin. He later joined the Crystal Palace academy in 2015. He eventually made two first-team appearances for the Premier League club.

Adaramola can operate in several positions. His main role remains left-back.

However, he can also play centrally in defence. He can also operate as a left winger.

Cercle Brugge technical director Luciano Murchio praised those qualities.

“We are very happy to welcome Tayo Adaramola to Cercle. He is a young left-back, but one who has already gained mature experience at different levels in England and in the Belgian Pro League. He is a forward-thinking player with good offensive qualities who will complement our current squad well, and we look forward to seeing him take the next step in his career with Cercle.”

Adaramola also welcomed the next chapter of his career.

“I’m very happy that I can call Cercle my new home from now on. I had a good feeling right from the very first conversations. I can’t wait to get started and show what I’m capable of.”

After more than a decade at Crystal Palace, Adaramola now begins a new chapter.

For Nigerian football, his progress in Belgium could be worth watching closely.
