‎Taiwo Awoniyi has been included in the BBC Premier League Team of the Week following his brace for Nottingham Forest in a 3-1 victory over Chelsea.

The selection, compiled by BBC pundit Troy Deeney, recognized standout performers from matchday 35.

‎Making just his second league start of the campaign, Awoniyi delivered a sharp and decisive performance. He scored twice and won a penalty as Forest extended their unbeaten run to eleven matches across all competitions. The Nigerian striker opened the scoring inside two minutes, reacting quickly to put his side ahead.

‎His movement then forced an error from Malo Gusto, leading to a penalty that Igor Jesus converted. Awoniyi returned after the break to score again, finishing from close range after a well-worked move involving Morgan Gibbs-White.

‎Awoniyi’s performance against Chelsea highlighted his importance despite limited starts this season. The forward now has two goals in his last appearance and directly influenced three goals in the match. His contributions proved decisive in a high-pressure away fixture and strengthened Forest’s push in the closing stages of the season.

Explaining his inclusion in the BBC Team of the Week, Deeney said:
‎”A big performance from him. Only his second start of the season for Forest.

‎”I saw him earlier in the season against Chelsea and he looked like he was carrying a wagon, like he couldn’t play football any more, but playing this Chelsea team, how the roles have reversed. He looked fantastic – two goals, powerful performance.”

‎Nottingham Forest had two players in the BBC selection, while Tottenham Hotspur led the way with three representatives — Micky van de Ven, Conor Gallagher, and Mathys Tel.

‎Elsewhere, Manchester City were represented by Jeremy Doku, Arsenal had Viktor Gyökeres included, while Liverpool saw Dominik Szoboszlai make the list.

‎Other names in the Team of the Week included Matz Sels, Vitalii Mykolenko, Marcos Senesi, and Kobbie Mainoo, completing the BBC’s standout XI for the round.

‎The match also marked a milestone for Awoniyi, who reached 100 appearances for Nottingham Forest across all competitions. His latest display underlined his growing influence within the squad at a crucial stage of the campaign.
