Super Eagles duo Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke will work with a new boss as Sevilla have appointed Luis García Plaza as their head coach, replacing Matías Almeyda who was sacked on Monday.
The swift appointment was announced by the club in a statement released on Tuesday, confirming that the former Alavés manager will be in charge until 2027.
“Sevilla FC have reached an agreement with Madrid-born coach Luis García Plaza (01/12/1972), who will take charge of the first team until 2027,” the club announced on their official website.
Luis García brings a wealth of experience, having managed extensively in Spain and abroad. His coaching journey began at a young age after a premature retirement from playing due to injury, with early roles at lower-division sides paving the way for opportunities at clubs such as Villarreal B and Elche.
He rose to prominence during his time at Levante, where he guided the club to La Liga promotion in his second season and successfully kept them in the top flight.
The 51-year-old later enjoyed a solid spell at Getafe, becoming one of their longest-serving top-flight managers, before gaining international experience in the UAE, China, and Saudi Arabia.

More recently, he achieved promotion to La Liga with Mallorca and repeated the feat with Deportivo Alavés, also ensuring their survival in the top division before leaving in December 2024.
