Super Eagles duo Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke are set to play under a new manager at Sevilla following the dismissal of Matías Almeyda after a disappointing run of results, Bold Sports reports.

The Spanish club confirmed the Argentine’s departure in an official statement released on Monday, bringing an end to his nine-month spell in charge at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. Almeyda oversaw 32 matches during his tenure, recording 10 wins, seven draws, and 15 defeats across all competitions.

“Matías Almeyda has been dismissed as manager of Sevilla FC,” the club said. “The Argentine coach leaves after managing 32 official matches, including 29 in La Liga and three in the Copa del Rey, following his arrival in the summer of 2025.”

“Sevilla FC would like to thank Matías Almeyda and his staff for their work and wishes them the best in their future endeavours.”

Sevilla’s decision comes amid a difficult campaign that has seen them slip to 15th place in the La Liga standings with 31 points from 29 matches, just three points above the relegation zone. Their struggles have been particularly evident in 2026, with only two wins recorded in the year so far, and a current four-game winless streak compounding pressure on the club.

Despite the team’s poor form, Akor Adams has emerged as a bright spot in an otherwise challenging season. The Nigerian forward has registered seven goals and three assists in 24 league appearances, establishing himself as one of Sevilla’s most reliable performers in his debut full campaign.

In contrast, Chidera Ejuke has endured a stop-start season due to injury setbacks. The winger has managed limited game time, contributing two goal involvements from four starts and 21 league appearances.

With Sevilla expected to appoint a new manager in the coming days, both Nigerian internationals will be eager to play key roles in the club’s push to steer clear of relegation and stabilise their season.
