Nigerian high jumper Temitope Adeshina successfully defended her crown at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships after clearing 1.97 metres to win the women’s high jump title in Fayetteville.
Adeshina’s winning mark equalled her personal best and Nigerian national record, confirming her dominance in the event and securing back-to-back NCAA indoor titles.
The Nigerian star faced stiff competition from Ghana’s Rose Yeboah, who cleared 1.94m to claim the silver medal, while American jumper Alyssa Jones settled for bronze with a jump of 1.91m.

After sealing victory at 1.97m, Adeshina pushed the bar higher and made three attempts at 2.00m, which would have equalled the NCAA indoor record, but was unable to clear the height.
Despite falling short of the historic mark, Adeshina’s performance reaffirmed her position among the elite high jumpers in collegiate athletics and highlighted Nigeria’s growing impact in track and field at the NCAA level.
Her triumph adds another major milestone to a rising career that continues to place Nigerian athletes firmly on the global athletics stage.
