Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare scored his fifth goal of the season, but his effort proved to be only a consolation as Wolverhampton Wanderers suffered a disappointing 3–1 loss to Chelsea at Molineux on Saturday, Bold Sports reports.
The Blues had raced into a three-goal lead in the first half, with star forward Cole Palmer producing a clinical hat-trick in 25 minutes to put Liam Rosenior’s side firmly in control. Wolves struggled to contain the Blues’ attacking intensity, and Chelsea went into the break with a commanding 3–0 advantage.
However, the hosts began to cause some problems in the second half and nearly pulled one back in the 54th minute when Mateus Mane rattled the woodwork with a brilliant strike. Moments later, Arokodare reduced the deficit, reacting quickest to Adam Armstrong’s flick-on from Mane’s corner to finish from close range and make it 3–1.

The goal injected belief into the hosts, and Arokodare came close to scoring again in the 72nd minute after being played through on goal. However, his effort was deflected and gathered by Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. Wolves continued to push in search of a second goal that could spark a late comeback, but Chelsea remained composed and saw out the contest.
The result marks Chelsea’s fourth consecutive league victory, lifting them to within one point of fourth-placed Manchester United. For Wolves, the defeat leaves them rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table with just eight points from 25 matches, their hopes of a miraculous escape from relegation now fading fast.
Despite the loss, Arokodare’s strike provided a minor positive. The Nigerian striker now has two Premier League goals and five across all competitions this season, with Saturday’s effort also his second goal against Chelsea, having previously scored against them in the Carabao Cup.
Arokodare will be aiming to build on that momentum when Wolves travel to Nottingham Forest on Wednesday, while Chelsea return to action a day earlier against Leeds, as they continue their push toward a top-four finish.
