Amad Diallo praised Ivory Coast’s unity and on-field chemistry after the defending champions delivered a composed team performance to overcome Burkina Faso, with the winger named Man of the Match.

Amad Diallo, who was at the heart of much of Ivory Coast’s attacking play, insisted the victory was built on togetherness rather than individual brilliance.

“First of all, we fought together as a team,” he said. “There is real chemistry between us. We are close on the pitch, and that makes our play more fluid. No one is trying to shine individually for the country. If I have the chance to make the pass, I give it. That’s just how we play.”

Ivory Coast’s ability to regain possession quickly and apply immediate pressure after losing the ball was a defining feature of the contest, something head coach Emerse Faé highlighted as a key factor in the win.

“I really liked our reaction when we lost the ball,” Faé explained. “The players reacted immediately. They were under pressure at times, but they made a huge effort to recover the ball very quickly. There were many interceptions, duels won, and balls regained straight from the opponent’s feet.”

Faé added that what pleased him most was the collective nature of the display, rather than any standout individual performance.

“What truly makes me happy is that beyond individual moments, it was the strength of the team as a whole that stood out tonight,” he said.

For Burkina Faso, head coach Brama Traoré cut a frustrated figure after the defeat, pointing to both absences and tactical shortcomings.

“Unfortunately, things didn’t work out for us,” Traoré admitted. “We were missing three key players, and that was evident. From a tactical point of view, we were not good enough. The system we chose did not work, and I take full responsibility for that.”

Ivory Coast’s victory keeps their title defence firmly on track, underpinned by cohesion, intensity, and a clear collective identity as the tournament enters its decisive stages.
