The quarter-final line-up for the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 is complete, and the stage is set for a gripping run-in as Africa’s finest nations converge in the hunt for continental glory.

Defending champions Côte d’Ivoire and record seven-time winners Egypt headline a formidable last eight that also features former champions Senegal, Cameroon, Nigeria and Algeria. They are joined by an ambitious Mali side and hosts Morocco, who continue their push to lift the trophy on home soil.

The eight teams sealed their places following the conclusion of an absorbing Round of 16, a phase that once again underlined AFCON’s reputation for drama, resilience, and high-quality competition.

Egypt, the most decorated nation in the tournament’s history, needed extra time to overcome a stubborn Benin side, while holders Côte d’Ivoire kept their title defence on track with an emphatic 3–0 victory over Burkina Faso.

Backed by passionate home support, Morocco edged past Tanzania to progress, extending belief that the Atlas Lions can translate recent global success into continental triumph. Senegal, champions in 2021, continued their impressive consistency by seeing off Sudan, while Mali showcased their trademark grit by eliminating Tunisia on penalties despite playing much of the contest with ten men.

Nigeria underlined their attacking threat with a commanding win over Mozambique, inspired by Victor Osimhen’s brace, as Algeria were pushed to extra time by DR Congo before substitute Adil Boulbina struck late to book their place.

The quarter-finals promise a series of blockbuster encounters. Five-time winners Cameroon will test hosts Morocco on Friday night, while an all–West African showdown sees reigning champions Senegal face a resilient Mali earlier the same day.

Saturday delivers two heavyweight clashes, as Nigeria meet Algeria in a battle of continental powerhouses, before Egypt and defending champions Côte d’Ivoire renew their rivalry in a standout tie between Africa’s most successful nation and the current holders.

With silverware firmly in sight, the quarter-finals will be played over two days, as the race for AFCON supremacy intensifies in Morocco.
