Nigeria’s Super Falcons have dropped to 37th position in the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking released on Thursday, but still retain their status as Africa’s highest-ranked team, Bold Sports reports.
The ten-time African Champions had held onto the 36th spot for six consecutive times, but have now dropped one place behind. Since the last ranking, the team have played twice against Benin Republic, securing a 2-0 win away from home before a 1-1 draw at Abeokuta to qualify for the 2026 WAFCON.
Despite their drop globally, the Super Falcons continue to lead the African standings, reaffirming their long-standing dominance as the continent’s top-ranked women’s national team.

South Africa remain second in Africa but drop to 55th in the world while Ghana remain third in Africa and move up five places to 62nd in the world. Zambia and Morocco complete the top five and are 64th and 66th in the World.
Globally, Spain remain the best ranked team in the world while the United States remain second. Germany climb up to third while England remain fourth and Sweden round out the top five.
Brazil climb up to sixth in the world globally while France drop down to seventh. Japan are eight and Democratic People’s Republic of Korea climb up to ninth while Canada complete the top ten.
