Moroccan sensation Doha El Madani has been named the CAF Young Player of the Year (Women) for 2025, edging Nigeria’s rising star Shakirat Moshood and Senegal’s Adji Ndiaye to the prestigious award.
The youngster received the award on Wednesday, November 19, during the 2025 CAF Awards ceremony held at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Rabat, Morocco.
El Madani’s win continues Morocco’s rapid rise in women’s football, with the youngster earning recognition for her breakout performances at both club and national team levels.
Despite missing out on the top prize, Nigeria’s Shakirat Moshood enjoyed a remarkable year that firmly established her as one of Africa’s most promising talents.

The dynamic forward was one of the standout performers for the Flamingos at the U17 Women’s World Cup, scoring a goal and providing an assist in a commanding 4–0 victory over Samoa, a result that secured Nigeria’s place in the round of 16 before they exited the tournament against Italy.
At club level, Moshood continued her impressive form with Bayelsa Queens, playing a key role in their run to the WAFU B Cup final. She scored two goals in the competition as the NWFL champions battled their way to the decisive match, ultimately falling short against ASEC Mimosas.
