The Super Eagles’ preparations for their all-important CAF World Cup playoff clash against Gabon is finally back on track after a resolution was reached between the players and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over unpaid bonuses.
The Nigerian team had boycotted training on Tuesday in protest over outstanding payments, sparking widespread concern among supporters who criticised the NFF for poor management ahead of such a crucial encounter.
However, according to sports journalist MikeThePundit, the Super Eagles regrouped for a video session at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, and full training is now scheduled for 5 p.m. at their base in Rabat, Morocco.

While it remains unclear whether the federation has fully settled the players’ financial entitlements, the return to training suggests that both parties have reached a positive understanding to ensure focus returns to the pitch.
Nigeria’s clash with Gabon is set for 5 p.m. on Thursday at the Stade Prince Moulay El Hassan in Rabat. A victory is crucial for the Super Eagles to keep their 2026 FIFA World Cup hopes alive.
Should Nigeria advance, they will face the winner between Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo in the final playoff scheduled for November 16. The victor from that tie will then progress to the Intercontinental Playoffs in March 2026, where a World Cup spot will be at stake.
