Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie says she is excited about her new chapter with Brighton and believes it is only a matter of time before the team lifts a trophy, Bold Sports reports.

Nnadozie joined Brighton this summer following an impressive spell at Paris FC, where she played a crucial role in helping the French side win the Coupe de France Féminine. Speaking with Sky Sports WSL, the Nigerian international revealed that Brighton head coach Dario Vidosic played a key role in convincing her to make the move.

“To be honest, Dario is the kind of person, when he talks to you, you don’t say no. I don’t know what he did but after speaking with me, I wanted to be in this team,” she said.

Since her arrival, Nnadozie has made an immediate impact, winning the Player of the Match award on her debut and earning nominations for Player of the Month and Save of the Month.

“I feel excited. Before I signed, I became a fan of the team. I made sure I watched every game. So coming here and being one of them feels so good, it’s a dream come true. I’ve always wanted to play in the WSL and doing it with this great club is a big thing for me,” she added.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper also spoke highly of the warm welcome she received from her teammates.

“They are so welcoming, you wouldn’t know who is the old player or who is the new player and that’s one thing I love about them. They carry everyone along and that’s pretty good. Coming here with the experience from my former team and national team has shaped me to understand what they’re doing.”

Nnadozie began her professional career with Rivers Angels in the Nigeria Women’s Premier League (NWPL), where she was instrumental in their 2019–2020 league triumph, before moving to France. Reflecting on her roots, she praised the Nigerian league’s growth and its contribution to the Super Falcons’ success.

“The league is very good. 90% of the players in the Super Falcons, we all played in the Nigerian league. I’m glad that today, many of us coming from the league are playing in Europe and America.”

“There’s investment in the league. The football in Nigeria and the whole of Africa is growing. The Moroccan national team are rising so fast and even the country, hosting a World Cup means a lot to Africa.”

Looking ahead, Nnadozie is determined to replicate her success in England and believes Brighton’s ambition will soon be rewarded with silverware.

“When I moved to Paris I told myself I wanted to win a trophy before I leave. It was the perfect time to win it with them, before I left. When I came to Brighton, I also said I don’t care how long, one thing I’m very sure of is that I must win a trophy here.”

“I think that’s gonna happen soon because the team is very ambitious, the players are willing to work hard, they’re ready to give everything and we have amazing staff who work as long as they can.”
